It Wasn't Meant to Be...

Well, I heard back re: "The King and I." And once again, I am not deemed "worthy enough" to grace the Buffalo stage in a leading or supporting role. I actually got my call last night. Mom had called me at around 6:30 to ask me if I had heard from anyone yet because she had and was going to be playing a wife. I told her no, but that I would let her know as soon as I heard anything. I quickly turned my cell phone ringer back on (it was on vibrate) and waited it out.

I got my call at around 7:10 or so. "Jessica, this is Wendy, the stage manager for "The King and I". I just wanted to let you know that we would like you to play one of the kings wives if you are interested." I wanted to say, "I AM interested...in who is playing Anna!", but I didn't.

I accepted my role semi-graciously and began to think of who else could've gotten Anna, because, as I said in yesterday's post, the competition (at least on Sunday) was zilch. Then I thought maybe Ellen B. got it, which I was totally cool with. After all, it had been a few years since she had done a Buffalo show and I knew she was itching to get back onstage after having a baby herself (Oliver) a little over a year ago. Well, if you read The Beaudry Beat, you would know that Ellen didn't try out this year, so that left me wondering...who else could it be? Could it be Michelle? Michelle would be great. Mom was in "Charlie Brown" with her, she's a teacher (as is the role of Anna), and she'd fit the part. I talked to my friend Shawn for confirmation...nope. She didn't get it, either. Hmmm.....

There is only one other person I know that tried out (on Saturday)-Becky K. She is a MLCT alum and has a decent enough voice. She'd be okay. I guess the only thing I am praying for now is that Ms. Lounge Singer USA didn't get Anna. She was a wretched snot who thought she was so much better than she was. Talk about OVERANNUNCIATION ...yuck! I keep checking BCT's website for the cast list. So far, this is what I know:

1.) Mom and I will be playing wives (or Chorus Members #7 & #8).

2.) Jackson (my Kindergarten student) will be in the show as one of the King's many children.

3.) Matt (Jackson's dad) will be playing Sir Edward.

4.) Michelle will be playing a wife as well.

5.) I will never get a lead in Buffalo (sigh...).
