After a busy day of sitting inside, cleaning, tonight I went to two of my Kindergartners' soccer games. Every year, I let my students know to invite me to things because I will try my darndest to come. My first year, 3 students invited me to games/concerts, etc. Last year, only 1 sent me his soccer schedule. This year, however, about 6 or 7 have invited me to their sporting events/plays, etc.
I love going, but it has been harder this year, due to:
A. Ethan
B. Me being in "The King & I"
However, not having practice on Monday nights, I was able to go to a couple of games tonight, so I braved the heat (Ethan stayed with my parents because Mark had to work late) and went. It was fun to watch them and their different approaches to playing soccer. At the first game, I went to see Barry. Barry was quite aggressive, wanting to get in there and score a goal. His team was quite good as well, though, I think that credit mostly falls to his coach (his dad). Aaron (another student) is on his team, too, but must've been out of town, because he wasn't there last night.
When Barry was done playing (and winning: 5-0), I stayed for JB's game. JB is still recovering from a broken leg, so his playing was a little more reserved. He actually spent most of the game goalieing and playing defense. I think his game was a little closer in score (1-2). After the soccer games, I made a pit stop off to Dairy Queen. On a hot day, it just sounded good. Well, everyone else in the world had the same thought, cause it was the busiest I've ever seen it. The drive thru was backed up to the entrance, not leaving much room for people who were dining in/picking up to park. I decided to brave it anyway. After all, I was already there.
I walked up to the front and saw another one of my students-Brandon, and his family. We chatted for a minute before I decided to go in. I got inside, ran into more people I knew (two of my piano students, a former preschool student, and my middle school helper), and ordered a couple of Blizzards. I brought them home, gave one to my parents for watching Ethan, came home, and ate mine. It was good, but pretty soupy by then. I probably should've waited to eat it, but I didn't make the rounds and brave those crowds to put it back in the freezer for a day...
Merry Christmas 2025!
