Must be able to examine my "womanly parts" and slice me open/stitch me closed with ease. Can be male or female. Must have a sense of humor and compassion. Prefer doctor within Wright County, especially Buffalo area. Please send names to Jessica.
After 12 years in Buffalo, my OB/GYN has accepted a new position in Texas and is leaving Buffalo Clinic next week. I am absolutely devastated!!! Dr. Menzies was absolutely fantastic with me and my uncertainties, always making me laugh with a joke or two...I still remember a few in particular. When it came time to have the gender ultrasound in April, I asked him if he could determine what the sex of the baby was. He came back with, "Uh...Jessica...I do believe the sex has already been determined." DUH! Another time, shortly after I delivered Ethan, I was having chest pains. I went in to see another local OB/GYN, who was very cold, not compassionate at all. I explained how I was feeling and began to cry. This other Dr. handed me a box of Kleenex and said, "You're fine." Really? No "There, there..." or other piece of kindness? Dr. Menzies would have cracked a joke...and did-when I went and saw him for my 6 week postpartum check. I walked in and he said, "Why...if it isn't my problem child? I heard all about you...you had to wait till I was gone, didn't you?" This is why I'll miss him so much. He made having a baby so easy, so relaxing, yet matter-of fact. I've heard you either love him or hate him...and I loved him.
I know it's a little obsessive, but I've already started thinking about who my other options are. There are two other OB/GYN's at Buffalo Clinic-Dr.'s Minke and Emery. One is the inconsiderate piehole who wrote off my chest pains and sent me to a PA (Physician Assistant, who ended up being WAY better) and the other looks very young, but I've heard good things. There is also an Allina Clinic in the hospital with 3 other OB/GYN's. One isn't actually a OB but a DO (Doctor of Osteopathy-recognizes how all of the body's systems, particularly the bones and muscles, work together and influence each other). The other 2 are possibilities. There is always another clinic (Monticello, Waconia, St. Cloud, Albertville, etc.), but I feel a strong connection to Buffalo since Ethan was delivered there and we donated to the yet-to-be built Birth Center. So, if anyone has any advice/insight, I'd really appreciate it. After all, I don't let just ANYONE look at my bajingo!
