So today was a great day, a day of fun but relaxation, a day of doing nothing yet doing stuff. It began with Ethan waking up at 6 (better than the 2 previous nights...we're moving in the right direction). I was still tired, so I brought him in to bed with Mark and I. He fell asleep, but not before putting his feet in my belly and ribs. It just brought me back to when I was pregnant with him. He would embed his toes into my ribcage all the time. We slept for a little while longer before Mark had to get ready for work and I had to shower before he left. I debated not moving Ethan but decided he was laying too close to the edge of the bed to stay there. I picked him up to move him to his crib...no luck. He woke up and started crying. Darn! I made him a bottle and laid him on the living room floor while Mark ate breakfast and I showered.
After my shower, Mark left for work and I took Ethan down to Mom and Dad's so I could get ready for my piano lessons. I really didn't want to give summer lessons, but the 2 parents pleaded with me, so I am teaching them, but only every other week. My lessons went well, although one of my students forgot, so she was late, another decided that rather than teach her piano, she wants me to teach her clarinet, and the third, as always, tried to camp out before I (very politely) told her I had places to go and people to see. Then I went and picked Ethan up so we could go and take Jenna out to lunch as a thank you for helping me clean my classroom.
Ethan was crabby about halfway through the car ride. He'd lost his pacifier, so he was very whiny. I thought about pulling over, but hoped maybe he'd fall asleep. Nope. We got there, picked Jenna up and drove to a little cafe in Monticello where we met Travis. Lunch was good, Ethan was a little moody on and off, but much better after he ate his lunch (peas and apples. I gave him some of my mashed potatoes, but he didn't like them because they were too garlicky). Travis went back to work while Jenna, Ethan, and I went back to their place for a little while. Then Ethan started getting tired, so we came home.
Ethan was already dozing in the car, but once we got home, he slept for around 2 hours. I took a nap, too, though not nearly that long. Back when we were at the restaurant, I noticed that Ethan's cell phone was missing (it was a demo model from when I worked at Wal-Mart). I looked in his diaper bag, in the car, in his room and the living room, and had Mom and Dad look for it to no avail. It's a bummer because it looked like a real phone, but lacked the "guts," plus it didn't have an antenna that could break off like the other demos I have. I'm still praying to St. Anthony, but I think we lost it last Tuesday at a T-Ball game.
We hung out until Mark got home. Then we all had dinner together. It was fun just chatting with each other. After reading a really cool article in Parents magazine, Mark and I are trying to each share one highlight and one lowlight of our day. We each did that before Mark ate a yogurt, which had a hole in the side...he got pink yogurt all over his pants. It was hilarious! I'd had a different highlight (taking a nap), but that may have surpassed it! Now we are just hanging out watching Noggin, watching Ethan crawl (the "right" way)! Mondays are so good to me!
P.S.-My baby is 10 months today...where does the time go???
Merry Christmas 2025!
