Book Recommendation

N0rmally, I save my recommendations for my sidebar (see my new one: Bagolitas), but this couldn't wait... Recently, with all the downtime at play rehearsal, I finished reading a fantastic book. It is called "Afterbirth: Stories You Won't Read in a Parenting Magazine." This book contains several short stories, written mostly by comedians and writers, but some famous names as well (like Moon Unit Zappa & Andrew McCarthy, whose stories were not nearly as good as some of the others). I will tell you that this book made me laugh out loud several times at rehearsal. It is particularly funny and relatable to those who have kids, but funny for all adults. I'll be honest-there are a few throwaway stories (like the two I listed above), but overall, pure comedic bliss. My favorite story is actually one (slightly abridged from the book) that I read in a parenting magazine-Parents Magazine, to be exact. It is by Merrin Dungey (the original Naomi from "Private Practice"). In it, she totally nails what happens to you when you're a mom. I normally don't borrow books out, but if you read this blog post and/or excerpt and are interested in reading the book in its' glorious entirety, let me know! I promise it will be worth it!
