Under or overachiever?

Ethan wants to walk so bad. He is happiest when he is standing against furniture or if you are helping him walk. Mark and I want him to crawl first, but know of children who skip that step and go straight to walking. I was okay with that until Joy, the music teacher at my school, told me that there is a direct correlation between children who crawl and are talented in music. So now I want him to crawl again. We put him on his belly quite frequently. He'll get up on all fours, rock back and forth and then either tip over on his side or flop back down on his belly. We've been at this same stage for over a month. I don't know if crawling is just too hard for him or doesn't interest him or what. Walking however, does interest him, even though he's just not strong enough yet.

Despite what other parents have said to us, Mark and I really want him to be mobile. How much fun will he be, crawling or walking around the house, getting into everything? Maybe then I'll burn off a few more pounds trying to keep up with him...
