Problem Child-Take 2

OK, so again today I had a problem with DJ. When I got to school this morning, I was confident it was going to be a fantastic day. The weather was going to be beautiful and we had a staff meeting that only lasted 20 minutes (as opposed to our 50 minute usuals). However, when the kids got to school, I quickly realized that my happiness was to be short-lived. "Mrs. Pavlenko, DJ kicked me in the nuts!" "Mrs. Pavlenko, DJ kicked Colton in the bad knee!" "Mrs. Pavlenko.....!" AHHHH! So, not only did DJ kick one of my kindergarteners in the "bad parts," he also kicked Colton, a second grader (who has arthritis) in his arthritic knee. More than that, he kicked 3 other children.

When I found out, I was furious! What is his problem? This is supposed to be getting better, not worse. So, I calmly called him over to my desk and asked what happened on the bus. "Well, I kicked Allen and Jack W. 4 times, and Colton, and Ryder, and my brother..." It was like nothing to him. I told him to go IMMEDIATELY to the office. "OK," he replied. No "I'll be better from now on-I promise," or "I'm sorry," or "NO!!!!!!!"

As a teacher, I will freely admit that I have students that I like a little more than others. However, no matter who the student and what they have done, I try to see the good in all of them. I cannot find any good in DJ whatsoever. And that makes my heart ache.
