Sometimes I loathe technology. Like today, for example, my mom called me and told me the first time she had called (10 minutes earlier), it had gone to voice mail. Not a problem, however, she said my voice mail message was so full of static that she could barely understand it. So then I tried to call my voice mailbox to check my messages-same problem.
I called T-Mobile, who went through a lot of troubleshooting with me (resetting my voice mailbox password, uninstalling and reinstalling voice mail, etc.). We were on the phone for 45 minutes. Still no luck. My technician, Alexis, was very nice, but could not figure it out, so she took some information and told me she would call me back in another 15-20 minutes. While waiting, I tried some things on my own (putting my SIM in an old phone, powering it on and off, etc.). Still nothing.
Meanwhile, Mom and I decided to go for a walk. I was not going to sit around after my plans to go to Buffalo for a few last minute Easter essentials had already been derailed. Before we left, though, I decided to try calling her phone to see if she had the same problem. She did. Hmmm.....
As we were walking, Alexis called me back. She was going to put in a work order for someone higher up to troubleshoot my phone and needed some more information. Before giving her the info, I explained what I noticed with my mom's phone as well. She put me on hold one more time to find out what was going on. Finally, after over an hour, I got my answer-apparently there is a system problem with voice mail in Minnesota. WHAT? Are you kidding me? I wasted all of my time for THAT?!?
It is still not fixed, but no matter. At least obsessive ol' me knows what it is. And as for my trip to Buffalo, barring any other technological disasters (TV not working, computer going dark, etc.), I will be going tomorrow morning.
Merry Christmas 2025!
